Practice

Daily practice is expected, even if it’s for as short a time as 10 or 15 minutes.  Oftentimes students don’t practice because dragging a horn to and from school everyday is either tedious or impractical; there are ways to work around this to facilitate a practice routine.  Lessons quickly lose efficacy when not supplanted by individual practice time; practice is essential to improvement!

Students will be shown how to practice. Practice makes permanent, not perfect!  Practicing the wrong way will make you very, very good at playing the wrong thing.  This makes thoughtful practice essential, and short bursts of intense practice make for more improvement than long sessions of mindless playing.

Have patience!  Improvement oftentimes comes more slowly than hoped.

Attendance

Barring an emergency, students are required to give twenty-four hours notice in the event that they will miss a lesson. There is some flexibility here, but, in general, if a lesson is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, the student forfeits that lesson’s fee.  A make-up lesson may be scheduled at Rebekah’s discretion.

If a lesson is cancelled with proper notice, a makeup lesson will be scheduled when possible.  Otherwise the lessons will resume the following week with no charge to the student for the missed week.

If Rebekah must cancel a lesson for any reason, she will either reschedule or she will credit the lesson fee to the student.
